'Convenience Auto Unlock Timeout' relates to AutoFill. It's designed so that if you use autofill more than once in quick succession, you don't have to repeatedly unlock your database.
This is the kind of flow that it enables:
- The database is locked.
- You go to autofill some credentials on a website.
- You unlock the database in your browser using Touch ID
- You go to another site and use autofill:
- If you haven't set an Auto Unlock timeout, the database would have been locked again and now you need to reauthenticate
- If you set an Auto Unlock timeout and you're trying to access the database within that time window (e.g. 3 minutes) you don't need to unlock the database.
If you want to control how long the app keeps your databases unlocked for generally, you can go to the app Settings > Security & Privacy > Locking:
