Upgrade Your KeePass 1 (KDB) Database to KeePass 2 (KDBX)
On macOS
- Unlock your database
- Select File in the menu bar (at the very top of the screen)
- Select Export Database...
- Select KeePass
- Choose a location and save your new KeePass2 database file
- Open the Database Manager window (View > Database Manager)
- Choose Add Database in the bottom right and choose the location of your new database
- You can also now choose to move that Destination database onto the Storage location of your choice (we always recommend Strongbox Sync. See: How do I move my existing database onto Strongbox Sync?)
On iOS
- Create a New Database to act as your new KeePass 2 database. You can do this by doing the following:
- Tap + > New Database > Local Device > Enter Master Password
- Unlock your KeePass 1 database.
- Go to the Groups view by tapping Groups on the Home screen or tapping the Groups tab at the bottom of your screen
- Tap the More button (Circle with 3 dots in the top right corner)
- Tap Select All
- Tap Export... at the bottom of your screen
- Select your Destination Database, the one you created in step 1 above. NB: You might be asked to unlock this database now.
- Select your Destination Group within that Destination Database
- Tap Export Here
- Tap Export to Confirm
- You can now return to your Destination database and confirm the presence of your groups and entries.
- You can also now choose to move that Destination database onto the Storage location of your choice (we always recommend Strongbox Sync. See: How do I move my existing database onto Strongbox Sync?)
