Import a CSV File Into Strongbox

CSV Import is supported on iOS and macOS.

You will need to construct your own CSV file and it must be in the following format:

Title,Username,Email,Password,Url,OTPAuth,Notes
Title-1,username,user@domain.com,password,https://www.nasa.gov,,This is note 1
Title-2,username,username@email.com,password,https://www.nasa.gov,,This is note 2

Download a Sample CSV file

NB: The fields must be exactly as above (Case and spacing)
NB: These are the only 7 fields supported (Title, Username, Email, Password, Url, TOTP and Notes)
NB: OTPAuth must be an OTPAuth URL

Once you are happy with your CSV file, you can import it using Strongbox. See below for instructions.

macOS Instructions

  1. Open Strongbox
  2. Go to the File > Import > Generic CSV... menu item at the top of your screen
  3. Acknowledge the introductory message and browse to your CSV file, then click Open
  4. Strongbox will now attempt to parse the CSV file and report if it was successful.
  5. Now, you need to add these entries to a new Strongbox database. You will be prompted to set a new Master Password for this database
  6. Next, you will be asked to save this newly created database somewhere. Browse to your chosen location and click Save

iOS Instructions

  1. Open Strongbox
  2. Tap + > More... > Generic CSV...
  3. Acknowledge the introductory message and browse to your CSV file, then click Open
  4. Strongbox will now attempt to parse the CSV file and report if it was successful
  5. Now, you need to add these entries to a new Strongbox database. You will be prompted to set a new Master Password for this database
  6. Next, you will be asked to save this newly created database somewhere. Browse to your chosen location and click Save
